A wedding for highlanders is of great importance. They prepare for it for a long time, and during the reception, they have fun and celebrate the health and happiness of the newlyweds. These are lively events, where lively music is abundant. They are accompanied by dances and even singing. In highlander dialect, marriage and wedding are referred to as 'gody.'

First, there are proposals, then questioning

Before planning a wedding in the mountains, proposals must take place, which are engagements. After that, of course, the dowry and wedding date are set. Then real preparations begin. The questioners take care of inviting the wedding guests. When the day arrives, the bride sends her bridesmaids for the groom, while she waits for her beloved in the appropriate outfit in front of the house. After their first meeting, the couple dresses in their appropriate attire.

Questioning is also of great importance, which involves a specially prepared speech given by a family friend. After that, the parents bless the newlyweds, and everyone proceeds to the church. According to tradition, the future spouses do not travel together; they meet again only before the altar.

Highlander wedding

In our hotel, it is possible to organize a real highlander wedding. We have various wedding halls at the guests' disposal, which we can decorate according to individual expectations. At a real highlander reception, there are 'cepiny', known as 'oczepiny' in other regions of Poland. During these, the bride removes her crown and replaces it with a special scarf. Meanwhile, the groom removes a feather from his hat. Cepiny concludes with a beautiful highlander dance performed by the newlyweds. It is accompanied by various folk songs and good fun.
